Community Energy People
Bringing people power to community energy
The Community Energy People project is creating jobs and volunteering opportunities across England – bringing much needed people power to
11 community energy groups.
The project is supporting our partners to develop the skills needed to employ their own teams, allowing them to better deliver community-led energy projects and engage new and diverse communities with their vital work.
The project is running from June 2024 to the end of May 2027.
The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and is made possible by National Lottery players

Project aims
Over a three-year period the project will:
- Create 33 paid jobs in 11 community energy groups across England
- Provide support for at least 100 volunteer roles
- Guide our partner groups on how to develop their new teams and deliver larger projects in their local communities
- Engage more people from under-represented backgrounds to discover community energy and empower them to play a bigger part in the transition to net zero.
Our partner groups
In our first year, we worked with five Community Energy groups to pilot the project before six more joined the project in Jun 2025.
